Restroom Review

How do you handle restroom breaks at your school?  I've always been jealous of teachers with restrooms in their classrooms because truth be told...I do NOT like restroom breaks.  They take up so much time from our day.  So, I decided to do something about it.  I put up a Restroom Review bulletin board in the hall outside of the restroom where we line up.
It's such a great way to have learning resources available to us while we review important classroom skills.
You can head on over to my blog to see some more pictures and to download the headings for free.

Elf Messages

Do you have a classroom elf?  We have our first one this year and my first graders LOVE it!  After writing letters to Santa, our elf was delivered from the North Pole.
I created these Elf Messages to use at the end of the day for my students that you can download for free over at my blog.

Meet Jodi {Fun in First}

Hey! I'm Jodi Southard from the teaching blog, Fun in First.  I'm a first grade teacher in Indiana!
I've taught Art, 3rd grade and 1st grade, but my heart is definitely in 1st!  I cannot believe that this is my 12th year of teaching.  I guess time flies when you're having fun!
I have two daughters (6 & 3) that keep me very, very busy!
I my spare time {what is that again?} I love running and doing Crossfit.  I also enjoy doing projects around the house.  There is always something to do in an older home.  Our huge project last year was to remodel our kitchen!
It was a looonnng process, but totally worth it in the end.
Anyways, I want to share this freebie with you that's perfect for November!

You can download the patterns and the sheet above by clicking on the picture below.

2013-2014 School Calendars

There is just something about calendars that I love!  The last couple of years I have created free school calendars and was reminded to update it for this coming school year.
The download has two different versions.  The first version has the month spread out onto two separate pages and the second version has the entire month on one page.
Head on over to my blog to download these calendars.

Mother's Day Booklet

Mother's Day is such a fun time of year.  We had a Mother's Day Tea in our classroom this year.  One of my favorite activities was using these conversation starters.
I placed the conversation cards into a bag.  Then the mothers and their child took turns pulling out a card and answering the questions.  Their conversations were SO sweet!
Head on over to my blog to download these conversation starters.  You can also find a free Mother's Day booklet while you're there.

Happy Mother's Day!

Guess What's in My Egg?

Can you believe it's almost Easter?  Not only is it early this year, but all of the snow outside my window right now just makes it not seem possible!  We had a snow day today, but when we return to school tomorrow, I will be sending a plastic egg home with each of my students along with this letter.
Each student will put an item in their egg and write three clues to tell what is in their egg.
Since we are home today on a snow day, I did this activity with my 3 and 5 year old.  They loved it!
