Hi Freebielicious Friends!
I hope the new school year is treating you well. It's hard to believe that it's already near the middle of September -- apple time!!

I'm here today with a new freebie that will fit in just perfectly with any apple-themed unit you use. It's actually a five senses pack. We use apples to investigate using our five senses -- hearing, smell, touch, sight, and of course the best part is TASTE.

This is a mini-poster pack with descriptive words that will help you and your little ones describe what you hear, smell, touch, see, and taste! I've also included printables so your kiddos can write what they experience.

Click HERE to grab in my TpT store.

After you grab the freebie, I'd love for you to pop over to my blog and check out everything there too!

Have a great school year!

Making Class Books

One of my favorite activities to do with my class is to make class books. After I bind the book together, I stick it in our classroom library for the students to read. They absolutely love it!

The first class book we are going to make this year is titled At School. This book will be all about things we like to do and can do at school.

Head on over to my blog to download this fun little book and see how else I teach writing in the beginning of the year!

Journal Writing

Daily journal writing is very important for developing writers. I have a fun journal for my students to write in every month.

I allow as much creativity as possible and always encourage inventive spelling, however, some of my students always need a visual. For that reason, I include a vocabulary page that can be incorporated into each journal. This is also helpful in giving my students ideas and motivation to write!

This fun little journal is perfect to get your kiddos writing through August! It comes with a cover page, vocabulary page, and several writing templates to choose from!

To download this freebie, look for the button that says "fan freebies" on my Facebook Fanpage!
While you're there, become a Facebook fan!

I also have a journal cover page and vocabulary page for September through June! You can check it out in my TpT shop!

Come stop by my blog for more tips and ideas!

Get Your Students to Write with POP!

Swing on into MMMB to grab the free anchor chart and method for your students to start writing with pizazz TODAY!  You will also be able to read an example of writing from an average student that was written after our third lesson on poppin' poppin' words in our writing!  I am still floored that it came from a 5 year old, but it shows the possibility of possibilities if we just provide them with the right inspiration and tools!

If I Were President

This is a fun writing activity I plan on using on Tuesday.  The students will draw themselves in as president and write about what they would do if they were the president!  I think the kids are going to get a kick out of putting themselves up in the ranks with these influential presidents!

Please stop by Simply Kinder for your free download!

Have a great long weekend everyone!

Word Work: February Words

Over the summer I created these word work cards to add to both my word work center and my writing center. They have been such a blessing to have! The students absolutely love them!

At the beginning of the year my students would write a word and draw a picture to accompany the word. Then they moved on to writing lists (like below)...

Now they are using the cards to write simple sentences and stories! It is wonderful! The best part is...they never bother me during my reading group to ask me how to spell something :)
I just updated the pack to include the February words. So head on over to grab your copy! Enjoy!
