Elf on the Shelf Puzzle Freebie

Our elf, Binky, has arrived!  Swing on into Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business to find out all about her clandestine arrival at our school (thanks to our incredible custodian, Mr. W!).  Of course, now it is time to squeeze all the academics I can out of this FUN & MOTIVATING little elf.  First up?  (Well, after we tallied to decide on her name, wrote out lists of good things that the elf could "catch" us doing, and learned the word she).  We'll be doing one of my students favorite activities-- an elf sequencing puzzle.  You can do it with your students, too, even if you don't do the whole Elf on the Shelf activity.  This is quickly becoming an independent activity in my classroom because we have done so many of them and the greatest thing about these puzzles is that you can choose what your students will be sequencing.  This particular set orders 10 frames, counts 10 frames by 2s and also includes one for a simple sentence.  Of course, you could always up the ante by whiting out and creating your own sequencing activity for the elf puzzle.  Either way, enjoy!

Did you grab the free turkey puzzle I made for you last week?  Well, my class finally got around to putting the sentence together yesterday to make the turkey.  They loved it so much, I promised them another one for tomorrow!  I just finished making this for them and would love to share it with all Freebielicious readers, too!

Transform Your Students into Dracula: A Photo Project

Do your students love to pretend they are someone else?
Well, how about transforming their very own picture into a favorite Halloween character, Dracula?  They will be shocked to see that, as the project is completed, they no longer look like themself!
Go grab all of the easy, step-by-step directions for this halloween photo project here.  Please be sure to send me pictures of your completed projects, too (I like to give free products to those who allow me to post their pictures of my products in use!).  Also, head over to my blog to check out what kinds of pre and post activities I do with this project.  Have fun!

Festive Halloween Pokey Pin Boo!

Do you Pokey Pin in your classroom? It has been a lifesaver for my group this year.  I have never had so many fine motor issues as I do this year and, after doing it 2 times a week, I can already see many improvements, believe it or not.  It used to take them quite awhile (which actually isn't too bad of a thing at the beginning of the year because it is such a quiet activity!) to complete a word or number and a shape around it and now they are whipping them right out!  The stronger their hand muscles are, the quicker they can complete their activity, and the better their hand control will be.  It's a win, win, especially when the kiddos love Pokey Pinning as much as they do.
We'll be taking a break from the typical letters, sight words, shapes and or numbers we typically do and have a little halloween fun.  (But, have no fear, it's not ALL in FUN...I just introduced the /oo/ chunk! Ha ha!).
I plan to have the ghosts stapled to black papers for them to create their designs to hang in our classroom windows...ooooo! :)
If you've been considering trying Pokey Pinning out in your classroom, now is the time.  Grab this freebie (and your push pins!) and see how much your students LOVE this activity.

Fall Number Sense Math Center Freebie

I am so excited to be a part of this new, incredible blogging adventure.  If you follow my blog, you already know that I took on a new adventure in my own classroom this year and that is a newly designed math hour that includes centers!  As I create new centers for my own classroom, I have been quickly trying to upload them and share with all of my fans as well.  This simple activity (that is great for number sense and exclusively for Freebielicious fans) will be in my math centers this week!
