Coloring Pages for Back to School

Can you believe school hasn't started for me yet?

I know most of you are already well into your daily classroom routines with students, but just in case you are one of the late-starters (like me in Michigan) I have a FREE simple coloring page to keep your students busy during one of those first days back at school. This page is already sitting on the desk of each new student, waiting to be colored while I run around unpacking any late-arriving school supplies and dry the tears of sad kindergarteners that miss their parents.

If school already has started for you, you can pin the image or print off the free download and have it ready to go for next year's back-to-school frenzy!

Follow the Kinder-Craze blog to see my (upcoming) classroom reveal and find inspiration for classroom projects and lessons throughout the school year.

I hope your school year is off to a great start!

Quick Management Tip!

Rustling papers... putting things away... so many fun things to do with your hands!

Ahhh... how can I engage them and keep them from touching things {which drives me crazy!}

First Day of School Lesson Plans and Freebies

Back to School time is here! Teachers are reading their lists and checking them twice. There are many things to prepare for that first week back.  I found an old blog post with ideas for the first day of school. I have included a To-Do list, lesson plan, song ideas, assessments, criteria chart ideas, and FREEBIES.  The freebies include Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Kissing Hand, First Day of School Forms, and Student Drop-Off Signs. These are all available in English and Spanish :)

I hope that you find them useful :)

Back 2 School is No Joking Matter Blog Hop

Many of us have already headed back to school.
Some of us are starting this week.
Then there are the lucky ones who have a few weeks left of summer vacation.

But, no matter how you slice it, it's going to happen sooner or later. We all have to go back to using our teacher voices, scheduling our bathroom breaks, sitting for hours writing our lesson plans, and sneaking M&Ms when we think no one is looking.

Well, the teachers from Freebielicious would like to take this opportunity to give you all a few things to laugh about during this time of utter panic and total exhaustion. It's time to take a break from the stapler that won't penetrate the wall, the alphabet letter that slipped behind your white board, never to be seen again, and the hundreds of books in your library that are no longer sorted. Don't think about the tons of meetings you are asked to attend when you'd rather be setting up your classroom, or the fact that you have 5 Ashley's in your class, and their last names all begin with the letter B.

Sit back with a cup of fresh brewed coffee (or chocolate milk, if you're like me and don't drink coffee!) and take a few moments to click through our blog hop and enjoy some hearty laughs. Then, when you are done, you can go back to completing all the tasks on your to do list. I hope you do so with a little less panic and a lot less exhaustion, knowing that you are not the only one wishing you could extend your summer vacation by just a few measly days weeks months.

Head on over to my blog to start the hop!

Making Class Books

One of my favorite activities to do with my class is to make class books. After I bind the book together, I stick it in our classroom library for the students to read. They absolutely love it!

The first class book we are going to make this year is titled At School. This book will be all about things we like to do and can do at school.

Head on over to my blog to download this fun little book and see how else I teach writing in the beginning of the year!

Duty Reminder Sign

I always write my duty on a yellow piece of construction paper and post it somewhere near my computer.  I try to make it all cute by cutting it crazy and outlining it in black.  LOL.. I think I am a little more creative with my computer than a pair of scissors.

So I made a much cuter sign this year and wanted to share it with you.

Click the image above to download it from my Simply Kinder Random Freebies file on TpT!

And be sure to stop by and check out what's going on!  Lots of other classroom setup posts!

School Event Calendar Cards

Teachers aren't the only ones that want to look stylin' for a new school year. Your classroom calendar does too! Give your calendar some fresh new accessories while reminding students of upcoming days and events with Events at School Calendar Reminder Cards. Each card in the set is a 2.5" square featuring typical school changes in routine: early dismissal, no school, assembly, guest teacher (substitute), testing and more!

Young students need visual reminders of upcoming events and displaying the reminder cards in your circle time space will help students remember upcoming changes in schedule (so hopefully they can remind their parents!)

Dismissal Tag Chaos!

I hate dismissal tags!  Just being honest!  But I hate inefficiency even more.  So I have figured out how to use dismissal tags without having students lose them, leave them at home, smear, and make them so easy for me to see visually!
