Stamping Freebie for Back to School

I love to use stamps at my writing station, especially at the beginning of the year.  The kids LOVE stamping and with clear expectations, it can be a success!  Here is a little freebie to file away for back to school!

Back to School FREEBIE

I just updated this freebie so that PreK and 1st grade teachers can use it as well.  All you do is have students color "their very, very best" on the first day of school and then again the last week of school.  It makes a great comparative assessment and the results are phenomenal.  Of course, the formation of their name changes TONS as well.  It provides a great visual for parents to see their child's growth in this area.  Swing on into MMMB to grab this FREEBIE!

Readers' Notebook FREEBIE!

So as I head to first grade (yup, if you didn't know, I am looping with my kinder friends this year!), there are lots of changes I need to make.  One of the things at the tippy top of my list is to come up with an easy-to-manage, independent Reading Response Notebook.  I am sharing the first part with you:  it is 3 levels of responding to fiction tables that students check off as they choose which  box to respond to after they've read a book.  Swing on into MMMB to grab my first of many freebies in response to Jan Richardson's book The Next Step in Guided Reading.   Enjoy and let me know your experiences with Readers' Notebooks because this will be my first experience with them with such young learners!

Book Study Chapter One Posted!!

Happy Thursday! We are so excited to launch our book study today. Chapter one is all about introducing centers, helpful tips before you begin, creating independence so you can begin guided reading, and getting organized. We hope you will visit these two blogs because Tammy and Crystal have written exciting posts on what they learned in chapter one, giving you great ideas and hopefully some new inspiration. Make sure you link up on one of their blogs too! Happy reading! Remember, we will post guided questions every Sunday and the chapter's hosts will post the following Thursday. See you in chapter two. Happy reading!

Feel free to ask questions & provide feedback on each blog too! THANKS!!

Addition and Subtraction Flashcard Labels

The Common Core states that students in kindergarten should fluently add and subtract numbers within 5. This helpful little freebie is for printable flashcard labels featuring the basic math facts within 5. I'm a label fanatic, so these are formatted to print on Avery 5163 labels. The print is big, bold, clear, and perfect for young children. These labels are a perfect fit for 3x5"index cards. (Of course, you could always print the pages on cardstock and cut them into smaller flash cards as well).

Stop by the Kinder-Craze blog to grab this great freebie!

Chapter 1 Things to Think About {Guided Reading Book Study}

Make sure you visit our host bloggers on Thursday, June 20th! Bloggers, have your posts ready and be ready to link up for chapter 1. Please use our book study button to link back to us. If you don't have a blog, then you can participate by commenting on the posts.

Reader's Theater

I love Reader's Theater, but it's hard to find one that can be used in the primary classroom.  So I wrote my own.  :)

I have written ten plays that are designed for the beginning reader and each play only has two characters so that kids can partner up!

Come on over to my blog to download your free copy of The Birthday Party, and see how I use and organize Reader's Theater in my classroom.

Summer Fun Printable Packet

For my end of the year gifts for my students I compiled this packet of summer fun ideas. Things parents can do at home with their child over the summer to make learning fun! I added them to some buckets with other materials too. Some of the suggestions in the packet, they can use the items in the bucket for!

I know most of you are out of school, but some of you haven't quite finished up yet. You can grab this packet for free if you want to use it with your students too! It would probably be more ideal for pre-schoolers, or your intervention K students. But, HEY! it's Free! Download it and see if it meets your needs!
Click {here} to go to my blog post and get more info on what is included in the buckets and the links to download the pack on either TpT or TN!

Need a FUN, CHEAP, INTERACTIVE End (or beginning) of Year Gift for your Students?

I do this activity that doubles as a gift and time filler at the end of the year each year, but it could also be a beginning of year thing as well with a little bit of tweaking!  The kids LOVE this souveneir to take home and play with all summer long.  Swing on in to Mrs. Miner's Monkey Business to find out what we do with these balls and grab a pokey pin freebie, too!  Are you on summer break yet?  I have 4 more days and then I am D-O-N-E and MMMB will be open full time for the season!
